Sinai Bedouin protest their plight
DEBKAfile’s military sources reveal that for five days, around 1,000 armed young Bedouin tribesmen have been holding Egyptian positions along the Sinai-Israeli border south of Rafah to siege.
The besiegers, mostly Tarabin, Azazme and Tihama tribesmen, have shut the troops in and reinforcements and supplies out. Egyptian General Mohammed Shaarawai and 50 soldiers were taken hostage until the insurrectionists’ demands are met.
Three Bedouin were killed and an Egyptian officer and three soldiers injured in a clash that took place Tuesday, Nov. 11 - at the 19th stone on the Egyptian-Israeli border 18 kilometers south of Rafah.
The gun battles erupted Saturday, Nov. 11, when Egyptian troops posted at the Nitzana border post opened fire on a suspected drug smugglers’ truck, killing the Bedouin driver.
Hundreds of armed tribesmen in pick-up trucks bent on revenge swarmed to the scene and began shooting up the Egyptian border guards.
Tuesday evening, Bedouin boosted their siege force against the Egyptian posts. Wednesday, the Bedouin offensive assumed the form of an organized uprising when their chief commander handed the Egyptian officers a list of eight demands for lifting the siege and releasing their captives:
1. All Bedouin incarcerated in Egypt or Sinai must be unconditionally released,
2. Court sentences passed by Egyptian courts against Bedouin, some in absentia, must be annuled.
3. Egyptian security operations in the Sinai Peninsula must honor Bedouin customs,
4. Egyptian officers and troops guilty of crimes against the Bedouin population should be prosecuted.
5. Egyptian officers proved to have violated the Sinai population’s social fabric must be fired.
6. Cairo must formally recognize Bedouin property rights over their places of habitation and grazing lands.
7. Egypt must funnel funds to ease poverty and unemployment in the Peninsula.
8. A comprehensive three-year development plan for all of Sinai.
DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources note that many Bedouin were hunted down and detained by Egyptian police after the string of al Qaeda terrorist attacks against tourists and Egyptians in Sinai between 2004 and 2006 and accused of complicity. Tourists were warned off the scenic peninsula in recent years, taking with them jobs and aggravating Bedouin poverty. Land ownership is a sore point for the semi-nomatic desert tribesmen. Some of their lands on the enchanting Sinai coasts have been impounded for hotel operators. The Bedouin are increasingly hostile to the Egyptian authorities and simmer on the brink of insurrection.
This turbulence also poses hazards for Israel. With Egyptian border police out of action on the Sinai-Israeli border, DEBKAfile’s military sources warn that the way is wide open for large-scale Palestinian terrorist elements to slip across into Israel for terrorist attacks.

My friend Harry is 93 years old
Like Memorial Day, this is one "holiday" when it would be appropriate to shut our eyes and devote a few quiet moment to remembering the men and women who sacrificed body and mind, in defense of America. (?)
This is the 90th anniversary of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (Armistice Day) that marked the end of World War I.
Though I honor and respect the men who fought and bled there, as a student of history and geo-politics I get sickened at the thought that this, too, was a war fought, not so much for "freedom" but, in reality a power struggle between and among Germany and its Kaiser, (who thought every inch of Germany and every one of its inhabitants were his personal property), the Czar of Russia, who could (and did) send millions of "his" semi-serfs to their deaths -- and also the hungry British Empire, France, Italy -- and Turkey (plus a few others).
In plain language this was a war for POWER and COLONIAL POSSESSION. Every military man and civilian who died in those four blood-soaked years died for those purposes only.
Of course France, invaded for the second time by a Germany that never seemed content to stay within her own borders -- regained her freedom.
But, after the Versailles Treaty, which set such horrible reparation conditions on Germany as to eventually bring on hyper-inflation -- and Hitler -- the three main "winners" Britain, France and Italy sat down, laid out a map of the world and started dividing up the spoils.
Italy was thrown a bone (Trieste, on the Adriatic) and Britain and France started to re-arrange the world's map - in their favor, of course.
President Wilson went disgusedly home -- his dream of a League of Nations with America a paricipant, shattered. What did we gain?
Germany lost her overseas colonies.
Of special note is how Clemenceau (France) and Lloyd George (Britain) divided up the huge Arabian desert -- previously "owned" by the defeated, rotting Ottoman (Turkish) Empire.
Countries like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria -- were carved out of desert sands and divided up between Britain and France as "spheres of influence", with puppet "kings" and sheiks established as their most willing "partners".
The smell of OIL was in the air.
How did this help the soldiers in the trenches of the Western Front?
How did this help the millions of civilians who died in this political in-fighting by politicians who stayed comfortably at home while they sent the young out to die?
Too much painful history. Too many dreams of a peaceful world --- shattered again and again.

Gun Owners Stockpiling Over Fear of Democratic Weapon Bans
Gun shop owners say business is booming, as customers buy up weapons out of concern that the incoming Democratic administration might impose new gun bans.

Handguns and rifles are flying off the shelves at Ted Sabate's gun shop in Kensington, Md.
And while it's not uncommon for gun sales to spike when the economy takes a downturn, Sabate says that's not what he's hearing from customers. According to Sabate, gun enthusiasts are stockpiling because they say they're afraid the incoming Democratic administration will impose new gun bans.
"People are afraid that if there's another ban imposed ... they won't be able to buy them at all," Sabate said. "So they want to get something now before they don't think that they can."
Sabate's shop is not alone. In gun shops across the country, federal background checks are up 9 percent nationally over the last year, suggesting gun sales are increasing as Inauguration Day nears.
"Y2K and 9/11 were real busy, but it pales in comparison to what we've had going on here in the last week," said one Colorado gun dealer. "I've been doing this type of business for about 10 years and I've not -- I've never seen anything like this before."
Though President-elect Barack Obama said repeatedly during the campaign that he supports Second Amendment rights, some gun buyers still are not convinced.
"There's always questions any time there's a new president whether you vote for him or against him. There's gonna be questions about somebody new coming into office, what they're gonna bring into office with him," gun owner Larry Starks said.
Vice president-elect Joe Biden, for instance, was a strong supporter of the assault-weapons ban, signed into law by President Clinton in 1994. Under the ban, domestic gun manufacturers were required to stop making semi-automatic assault weapons and ammunition clips holding more than 10 rounds (except for military or police use). The ban expired four years ago.
Some Democrats say the fear-mongering is simply a ploy by the gun lobby.
"It's pretty clear this has been worked up by the NRA and the gun-shop owners, you know, when they're having 'Obama Sales Days.' I don't think that's coming from Barack Obama," said Eleanor Holmes Norton, the congressional delegate from Washington, D.C.
The head of the National Rifle Association, Wayne LaPierre, foresees a split in the Democratic party.
"What you're going to see is a real struggle between the elite wing of the party -- the Manhattan, Georgetown cocktail party circuit, the Los Angeles -- versus the union, rank-and-file members ... the members that are going to (say) wait a minute, my district likes to hunt, my district respects the Second Amendment," LaPierre said.
A spokesman for Obama's transition team said, in a written statement to FOX News, that Obama "respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms," and that he will "protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport and use guns."
The Presidential election is having a major effect on gun sales. Dealers are seeing a spike in business because people are worried about tighter gun control laws.
It's a noticeable trend at the Wanenmacher's Arms Show, expected to draw 35,000 to the QuikTrip Center.
"Yeah there has been an increase in sales, the last week especially," said Eric Fuson, gun specialist with Oklahoma Police Supplies.
People are afraid they won't be able to buy guns under Democratic leadership. Fuson says it's a legitimate concern.
"It happened before during the assault weapons ban during the Clinton administration, and everyone assumes that something like that will happen again."
Joe Wanenmacher has seen gun laws come and go in the 40 years he's run the show.
"I don't anticipate any specific gun control legislation in the future, but it's a good possibility," Wanenmacher said.
As an Illinois state senator, Obama supported a ban on semi-automatic weapons.
He has said he respects Americans' right to bear arms but favors "common sense" gun laws.
But new legislation on fire-arms control may be a low priority because of the nation's economic crisis and the Iraq war.

In tough economic times, many businesses are suffering. However, local gun shops are exploding with customers. Many of these customers are buying out of fear rather than pleasure.
Because Obama won the election David Shotts of Marshall, Illinois is buying his son a semiautomatic shotgun.
"We wanted to go ahead and get the semiautomatic because of the Obama’s possible new gun bans coming out. We'll probably buy some ammunition today to since they're talking about the tax increase."
David isn't the only one with these fears. Joyce Behnke, the owner of The Lost Creek Trading Post Gun tells us her store has never been busier.
"The last week has been really over the top as far as people looking, buying and pricing items like riffles, shotguns, handguns, ammunition," she said. The interesting thing isn't so much 'what' people are buying but 'why.' "I think they're panicked, they're worried about what’s going to be happening in the next four months. They're worried about the gun laws changing and possibly seeing an increase in taxes," said Behnke.
Obama, as an Illinois senator supported a ban on all forms of semiautomatic weapons and tighter state restrictions firearms. What he'll support as president has many people concerned.
Shotts tells WTWO, "It worries me about my kids being able to hunt in the future and future hunting for myself." Like many customers he went ahead and purchased a firearm just incase he couldn't in the future. "I don't know, hopefully he'll (Obama) do good for the county but right now it’s not looking good for the gun owners,” he said.
Nearly 10-years-ago, Obama outlined a plan which would increase federal taxes by 500-percent on sales of firearms and ammunition.

Follow-up story: Mombasa Imam who confirmed Obama’s birth place arrives in the UK

The Imam who came forward to assist in the search of Barack Obama’s identity left Kenya secretly last night, and will arrive in the UK this morning. He will meet with a US contact person who will assist him in recording an asylum statement in the UK after handing over the documents that caused the blessing of Obama when he was born and to confirm the origin of the name Hussein.
The man will join relatives in the UK because his life will be in danger if he were to return to Kenya after removing the documents from the Mosque’s archives and taking them out of the country. The man has been informed about the on-going case filed in the US Supreme Court by attorney Philip Berg challenging Barack Obama’s citizenship.
When the man heard that Jerome Corsi was in Kenya a few months ago, he took a decision to try and meet him, but had to travel back to Mombasa from Nairobi on hearing that Corsi had been bundled and taken to the airport on deportation orders.
The Imam is the grandson of the late Imam who blessed Barack Obama when he was born in Mombasa on the 4th of august 1961.
While in the UK, the Imam and the American contact person will visit Amnesty International before handing himself over to the authorities where he will formally deliver his application for asylum. The contact man has arranged so that they get an official from Amnesty international to accompany them to the home office desk where he will inform them on he dangers that will face him if he were to return to Kenya after delivering the documents on Obama.
This may now bring to close the speculations on Obama’s citizenship and the secrecy on where he was born.
API will dispatch a detailed letter in support of the Imam’s - application for asylum and protection - to the UK Home Office Secretary later today. The letter will be made available on the site here, but minus the names of the Imam.

JERUSALEM – Hamas held a meeting in the Gaza Strip several months ago with aides to President-elect Barack Obama, but the terror group was asked to keep the contacts secret until after last week's elections, according to a senior Hamas official.
Ahmed Yousef, Hamas' chief political adviser in Gaza, told the leading Al-Hayat Arabic-language newspaper Hamas has maintained regular communication with Obama aides that even continued during the past week.
"We were in contact with a number of Obama's aides through the Internet, and later met with some of them in Gaza, but they advised us not to come out with any statements, as they may have a negative effect on his election campaign and be used by Republican candidate John McCain (to attack Obama)," Yousuf told Al-Hayat.
Yousuf said Hamas's contact with Obama's advisers was ongoing, adding that relations were maintained after Obama's electoral victory last Tuesday.
Yousef could not be reached by WND for immediate comment. It wasn't clear which Obama aides Hamas is claiming to have met in Gaza. Obama's transition team did not immediately respond to a WND e-mail and phone message requesting comment.
Obama's senior foreign policy adviser, Denis McDonough, told the Jerusalem Post today, "This assertion is just plain false."

West Bank security plunges out of Israel military control

Palestinian firebombers terrorize West Bank
On one day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, there were 30 Palestinian attacks on Israeli soldiers and border police officers on the West Bank, leaving four injured, including two policemen and an army platoon commander, DEBKAfile’s military sources report. The security situation plummeted from last month when, after men of the Lavi Brigade shot dead three Palestinian assailants who were hurling fire bombs, Israel units were prohibited from posting snipers to defend them against Palestinian firebomb ambuscades.
The prohibition came down from the office of prime minister Ehud Olmert and defense minister Ehud Barak. It was quickly picked up by the Palestinians who, realizing that the IDF’s hands were tied, became more audacious. By Tuesday, it had reached the point, said senior military sources, that the OC Central Command, Brig. Gadi Shamni, no longer controls security in Judea and Samaria. Marauding Palestinians have seized the hilltops commanding the territory’s main highways and intersections and bombard every passing Israeli car, including military and police vehicles, with firebombs, burning tires and big rocks. Shortage of manpower prevents the army from taking those hilltops over; its function has been reduced to patrols.
Tuesday, Palestinian terror peaked. They hurled firebombs and rocks at two border police bases in Abu Dis in southern Jerusalem and Atarot at the northern end of the capital and hit four IDF patrols. At Tekoa, southeast of Bethlehem, flying rocks pinned down a military force for hours until it was relieved by reinforcements. Rocks and bottle bombs hit at least 14 passing cars, seriously damaging some of them. Rioting Palestinians in Hebron and its vicinity hurled six firebombs, blocked main junctions with burning tires and set fire to a Jewish-owned wheat-field.
Security sources told DEBKAfile that if this goes on and the government sticks to its policy of non-response, there is nothing to stop the Palestinian gangs from moving on to firearms.
The US-trained Palestinian security forces, whose presence Israel accepted, keep to the main towns of Nablus, Jenin, Hebron, Ramallah and Qalqilya and do not venture outside. Palestinian terrorists have therefore won the freedom to terrorize most parts of the West Bank safe from Palestinian or Israel interference.

Fight To Reveal Obama's Birth Certificate Continues
By John P. Connolly, The Bulletin 11/09/2008 Two of the plaintiffs in court cases against Sen. Barack Obama, the president-elect, are working to move their cases forward before his presidential inauguration.
Philip J. Berg, the attorney who filed suit against Mr. Obama challenging him to produce his original birth certificate to prove he meets the constitutional requirements to serve as U.S. president. Mr. Berg filed a Writ of Certiorari in the U.S. Supreme Court late in October, in an effort to force Mr. Obama to produce the document.
Accordingly, the U.S. Supreme Court has said that Mr. Obama, the DNC and all co-defendants are to respond to the writ, on or before Dec. 1. The judge in Mr. Berg's original case ruled that Mr. Berg does not have standing to enforce the constitutional requirements on a presidential candidate. Mr. Berg appealed the ruling to the Supreme Court. "I look forward to receiving defendant Obama's response to the writ and am hopeful the U. S. Supreme Court will review Berg v. Obama. I believe Mr. Obama is not a constitutionally-qualified natural-born citizen and is ineligible to assume the office of President of the United States." Mr. Obama put an electronic photo of a birth certification on his "Fight the Smears" Web site, a document that his critics have found unconvincing.
The raised seal and authoritative signature needed to validate the document cannot be seen on the scan. The Obama campaign was unwilling to release the original document to the court when Mr. Berg filed suit in August, choosing instead to argue against Mr. Berg's standing. Mr. Berg asserts that Mr. Obama was born in Kenya, as his mother, Ann Dunham, was denied entry to the plane home due to her advanced pregnancy. Since she was only 18 at the time of Mr. Obama's birth, she would not have passed citizenship on to Mr. Obama. In 1961, citizenship could only be passed on to a child where one parent was an alien should the citizen parent have resided in the U.S. for 10 years, five of those over the age of 14.
The State of Hawaii has refused to release copies of Mr. Obama's birth certificate, because Department of Health officials say the privacy statutes of the state prevent them from doing so to anyone who does not have a "direct and tangible interest" in the record as prescribed in the state statute. In Honolulu, Andy Martin, a longtime critic of Mr. Obama, filed a lawsuit in October, in an attempt to get the Hawaiian Department of Health to release Mr. Obama's birth certificate records. Mr. Martin announced last week that he plans to get members of the Electoral College to pressure Mr. Obama into presenting his birth certificate. "We are going to start organizing a 'Goal Line Stand' in the Electoral College to force Barack Obama to produce his original 1961 birth certificate for review by the American people," Mr. Martin said.
"Republicans, conservatives and independents have a new rallying point. Don't let Obama pass through the Electoral College until he has produced his original birth certificate and ended the mystery shrouding his origins." No one, aside from Department of Health officials, has seen the original document. Mr. Martin has a court hearing on Nov. 18 in the Circuit Court for Honolulu, Hawaii to continue his case. John P. Mr. Berg has been receiving phone calls today asking for a copy of "the order from the Supreme Court requiring that Obama produce his citizenship documentation."

This must be regarded as an unfounded rumor until it appears on the Supreme Court website or Mr. Berg receives notification.

'Broken gun' appeal cites government's own witnesses Defense says malfunction doesn't make firearm an automatic

A Wisconsin man who contends he's been imprisoned simply for loaning a broken gun to a friend, asserts in a new court brief that the government's own witnessess support his claim.
David Olofson was convicted of transferring a machine gun, or a weapon that releases more than one bullet with a single pull of the trigger, and sentenced to 30 months in prison. But his case is on appeal to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, because his lawyers argue it was a malfunctioning rifle, not a machine gun, that loosed the shots.

There is an estimated 80-plus million gun owners in this country. For nearly a half century gun owners have been fighting Congress and the state houses over one anti-Second Amendment bill after another. For half a century, gun owners have continued to win a skirmish without ever winning the war.
Barack Hussein Obama is dangerous to freedom and liberty and your gun rights. In the weeks leading up to the hoax called the November 4, 2008, elections, gun sales went through the roof; the pace continues. Gun owners who paid attention to Obama's record and position on the Second Amendment became very, very afraid. With a Democrat controlled Congress, there will be no one to stop Obama from signing unconstitutional guns bills into law.
Where were the gun owners on election day? If only 50% of gun owners voted, roughly 40 million strong, even vote fraud could not have pushed Obama over the top. If every gun owner in this country voted last week, or close to 100% against Obama, I wouldn't be writing this column. How many gun owners voted for Obama for the promise of 'universal health care'? Congress has NO authority to legislate such a monstrosity that would put a bullet through the heart of an already comatose economy. How many gun owners voted for Obama because he promised to create jobs? The president has NO authority to create a single job. Only the House of Representatives has the authority under Art. 1, Sec. 8., to raise bills of expenditure for a limited form of republican government.
Congress is responsible for the collapse of our monetary system and current financial breakdown. Congress destroyed the finest health care system in the world. Do people actually believe the same old Congress allegedly just rehired is going to fix the problem after decades of ignoring the real solutions? Gun owners who voted for promises that will never be kept will soon see they voted for America's destruction if they don't hunker down, stop trying to fight brush fires and put an end to the problem once and for all.
When will gun owners in this country 'get it'? When will they finally realize the destroyers are not going to stop until owning a gun is nothing but symbolic. More and more laws will be passed until what you end up with is a hunk of empty metal, the clip and ammunition tucked away in the attic as a result of more and more 'safety' laws. Sound ridiculous? The continuing compromise over Second Amendment legislation has not brought your right to own and bear arms a single step closer to the solution.
Now that gun owners have stocked up on new weapons and more ammo, just what are you going to do with them?
There will be no out right confiscation of guns on a whole scale basis. Even Obama isn't that stupid....unless circumstances can be engineered whereby martial law is declared. Then what? Americans shooting at each other? For those who think this can't happen here in America, take off the blinders.
Creating jack booted thugs
Most Americans have no clue about the history of the world. They know nothing about Mussolini's Black Shirt Militia or Hitler's Brown Shirts. Make no mistake: Obama will do everything in his power to create a very dangerous new "force" that should scare the hell out of every American: “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.”
What Obama has in mind is NOT the well regulated militia under the states as mandated by the Second Amendment. What he has in mind will be hell for this country. Obama supporters should watch this short video; most won't because they don't want the truth about their new agent of "change." Watch this impostor who is trying to bluff his way into the White House as he stands next to a butcher named Raila Odinga, his cousin. Just take a look at what Obama has supported: death and slaughter. Odinga ran on the ticket of 'change' and redistribution of wealth. Sound familiar? Why didn't you see this on your local news or the cable networks before election day? Odinga ordered all records relating to Obama's birth sealed. Now Odinga expects the pay off.
The final solution
For many years I have written about Dr. Edwin Vieira's brilliant work on the Second Amendment regarding the militia. Back in May 2005, Edwin began writing columns for NWVs. Each column brilliantly lays out the history of a well regulated militia and why the states of the Union MUST reconstitute them or we will not survive the iron fist of totalitarian government looming over our heads.
Our very survival depends on the states of the Union revitalizing the constitutional militia. Most Americans have seen how local law enforcement have been paramilitarized over the past 15 years. We the people are now the enemy. Most Americans not walking around in self-induced comas still remember how the FBI, the ATF and our military gassed and burned to death almost one hundred adults and children, some babies, at WACO. We remember how the FBI and U.S. Marshals shot a young boy, a son named Sammy Weaver, in the back and then put a bullet through his mother's head while holding her infant daughter at Ruby Ridge.
Has the time now come for gun organizations in selected states to organize and get to your state legislature the minute they open for business in January? Forget states like California and New York. Their legislatures are too far gone. They are rancid institutions kept in power by vote fraud and an apathetic, dumbed down populace. Real Americans in those states are out numbered by the lazy, ignorant mobs who demand more and more from the public treasury. I believe the states to concentrate on should be: Montana, Wyoming, Tennessee, Kentucky, Idaho, North and South Dakota, Arizona, Virginia and Texas. I would also like to include New Hampshire whose state motto is Live Free or Die, but over 50% of the voters in that state allegedly voted for Obama. Is their motto dead or are there enough real patriots left in that state to get the job done?

Gun organizations in these states: Start coordinating with all the gun groups in your state and let them know you intend to sit in the face of your state legislature until this gets done. There is strength in numbers. I am hopeful Gun Owners of America will bring their considerable forces into this top priority battle come January.
