The nuclear-armed state of Pakistan could be on the verge of an Islamic revolution. On Sunday, an angry crowd of protesters released opposition leader Nawaz Sharif from house arrest. The mob then proceeded to unleash a wave of violence that forced President Asif al Zardari to bow to their demands.
“This is a prelude to a revolution,” declared a triumphant Sharif.
The seeds of this incident were sown last year when Zardari refused to reinstate a sacked judge whose cause Sharif had been championing. Things came to a head three weeks ago when the Pakistani Supreme Court upheld an earlier high court verdict that banned Sharif and his brother, Shahbaz, from holding parliamentary office. Sharif responded by calling on the whole nation to take to the streets and support his cause.
Enough responded to this call to conclusively prove that it is Sharif, and not Zardari, who really rules the roost in the Punjab province—Pakistan’s most populous region.
Even more startling than the massive protest is the revelation of who participated in it. In addition to members of Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League, many protesters belonged to Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan’s most influential Islamist political party. This party advocates an Iranian-style religious dictatorship for Pakistan and maintains close ties with the radical Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.
It is evident why such a party would support Sharif over Zardari. Back in 1998, when Sharif was prime minister, he proposed legislation designed to transform Pakistan into an Islamic order based on a literal interpretation of the Koran. This legislation, among numerous other proposed reforms, would have given the government the power to enforce prayers five times a day. The only reason the legislation did not pass was that it lacked enough supporters in the upper house of the Pakistani government at the time.
Anti-government protests are driving more and more Pakistanis into the Islamists’ arms. Opinion polls show that Sharif is currently Pakistan’s most popular politician, and it is feasible that his party could mobilize street rallies powerful enough to deliver a deathblow to the current coalition government in Islamabad.
Even if a temporary compromise is reached between the current government and its opponents, such a deal would still hand more power over to Pakistani Islamists.
Where could this debacle eventually lead?
Editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote in the January 2008 Trumpet: “Pakistan also has the nuclear bomb and could be taken over by radical Islam, with plenty of help from Iran. That means it could become a proxy of the Iranian mullahs. This would be the worst possible disaster!”

Al Qaeda's next "jihad" target: West Bank
Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the murder of two Israeli policemen Sunday night outside Masuah in the Jordan Valley Sunday night, March 15, DEBKAfile's counter-terror sources reveal.
The claim appeared Monday in a leaflet circulated in Jordan and the West Bank announcing that the shooting of the two Israeli policemen was al Qaeda's first operation "on the West Bank" and there were more to come.

The victims were David Rabinovich, 50 from Rosh Ha'ayin and Yehezkiel Ramzarkar, 42, from Maale Ephraim.
The pamphlet details the mechanics and timing of the lethal ambush: "Our team waylaid the Israeli security vehicle on Highway 90 and killed its passengers." It also revealed that the killers set out on their mission immediately after Osama bin Laden's last tape was aired by Al Jazeera Saturday "to carry out his orders."
It does not specify whether they came from Jordan or the West Bank. Bin Laden stated that, as the Americans start pulling out of Iraq jihad must be relocated to "the Palestinian territories."
DEBKAfile's counter-terror sources point to his key phrase as being: "Jordan… is the best and widest front, and from Jordan the second launching will be toward the West Bank."

Their names were released Monday: David Rabbinovich, 50 from Rosh Ha'ayin and Yehezkiel Ramzarkar, 42 from Maale Ephraim.
DEBKAfile's military sources reported Sunday night: A big manhunt has been launched on both sides of the Israeli-Jordanian border for the gunmen who shot dead two Israeli police officers in an ambush of their van on Highway 90 near Masuah in the Jordan Valley Sunday night, March 15.
Israeli and Jordanian army units are pursuing the assailants. "The Imad Moughniyeh Martyr's Brigades" claimed the attack in an anonymous call to the French News Agency.
Magen David teams summoned to the scene found one of the victims dead and tried in vain to resuscitate his companion. Residents in northern Jordan Valley were told to stay indoors under cover on the assumption that the gunmen were still at large.
The incident is under investigation, including the possibility that the assailants may have infiltrated from Jordan.
This hypothesis is borne out by the professional way the attack was carried out, indicating a better standard of military training than displayed in terrorist attacks by West Bank Palestinians.
The perpetrators set their ambush at a bend in the road where conditions force traffic to slow down and waited in a dark spot far from the nearest habitation for a police or military vehicle to pass by.
Even in the nearest houses no one heard the shots.
It was only some time later, that a passing motorist came upon the overturned police car. His alert brought large military and police forces to the scene.
Their first assumption was that the terrorists had infiltrated form Jordan. West Bank Palestinian terrorists have enough Israeli targets to choose from in their immediate neighborhood without seeking out a target in the remote Jordan Valley close to the Jordanian border.
It has not been positively established at this point that the attackers did indeed come from the neighboring kingdom. Nevertheless, Israel put the Jordanian authorities on guard for a terrorist team on the loose in the region and both launched a pursuit.

A revolution is brewing as American patriots and advocates of the free-market system unite in protest against out-of-control government spending – with a wildfire movement of more than 150 nationwide tea parties.
John M. O'Hara of The Heartland Institute is a member of New American Tea Party, a coalition of citizens and organizations concerned about reckless government spending, is helping coordinate a number of national tea party events.
"Our message is simple: 'Bailing out' reckless businesses and individuals is neither the burden of responsible, hard-working American taxpayers nor the role of government," he told WND.
O'Hara said there is no question the United States is facing tough economic times, but he believes many politicians are not proposing serious solutions.
"The Congressional Budget Office and countless economists say that the recent 'stimulus' packages will likely hinder, not help, our economy," he said. "Tax cuts, not tax hikes and handouts, are the quickest, most efficient means of getting our economy back on track."

This magazine has been watching Joseph Ratzinger for a long time. As we have watched, we have followed his course from chief confidante of the late Pope John Paul ii to his enthronement as pope and then on throughout the past four years of his controversial papacy.
As we have watched this leading religious figure, we have monitored his involvement in a clandestine project of the Vatican that was documented in Bible prophecy almost 2,000 years ago and which remained a mystery until fully exposed within the last two decades.
Now, as Benedict xvi prepares for his upcoming visit to Israel, the Palestinian territories and Jordan this May—a tour incorporating his first visit to Israel since being elected pope—it is crucial that the Vatican agenda for the city of Jerusalem be publicized.
Back in the mid-1990s, a statement made by Pope John Paul ii during an interview in his native Poland, broadcast in Italian over a Polish radio station, was noted by one of our Italian associates. She sent us a brief transcript of the interview, which included one particularly startling reference made by the pope regarding the Vatican’s ultimate goal of transferring its headquarters from Rome to Jerusalem.
What was unusual about this admission of John Paul ii is that the Vatican’s intentions to possess Jerusalem are seldom publicized and little commented on. In fact, an air of secrecy—something that the Vatican has a history of creating over various of its affairs over the centuries—has surrounded this project since the failure of the Crusades, the most obvious of the overt and now very historical attempts by the Vatican to seize control of the Holy City. Those attempts have a long history with strong attachments to the German nation, right up to the past two world wars, and beyond to our present day
As far back as the eighth century a.d., emissaries were sent to Jerusalem by Emperor Charlemagne to negotiate an agreement with the Muslim Caliph Haroun. The result was that Jerusalem became a protectorate of the Holy Roman Empire.
Historical records indicate that such a protectorate was limited to the oversight of the welfare of Christians, the care and protection of designated holy sites, and the properties of the Roman Catholic Church in Jerusalem. The fact that the caliph would be a beneficiary financially to this enterprise was taken as a given. Muslim support of the Kaiser’s army in World War i, and again of the Nazi regime in World War ii, was the end result of a long historical nexus between the Muslims and the German nation.
From the time of the Charlemagne/Haroun pact, through the attempt by Kaiser Wilhelm to seize Jerusalem in World War i to this day, elements within the German nation have historically viewed themselves as protectors of the Roman Catholic Church. From the time of the failure of the great crusades, German elites have worked to find ways and means of seizing the plum job of protector of Jerusalem.
Recently, courtesy of the actions of Germany’s Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minster Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Germany has aggressively stepped up its diplomacy in the Middle East. This action comes in advance of the upcoming visit by a German pontiff, Josef Ratzinger, under his adopted papal name Benedict xvi, to the city of Jerusalem. Both Vatican and German diplomacy in Israel are linked to a common end—possession of the Old City of Jerusalem, as well as most of the eastern half of the city. The Jews are the pawns in this grand game of international diplomacy, the Palestinians the all-too-willing grunts on the ground eager to oblige the process of the division of Jerusalem and the annihilation of the State of Israel in the process.
The Vatican already has a significant legal presence in Jerusalem by virtue of free access to its holy sites over which Rome has legal jurisdiction, under Israeli law, including both its institutions and assets in Jerusalem. The consolidation of these arrangements came by virtue of a bilateral agreement termed “The Fundamental Agreement Between the Holy See and the State of Israel,” which the Israeli government signed with the Vatican on Dec. 30, 1993. The terms of this agreement, composed in secret, were subsequently legislated by the Israeli parliament, the Knesset. What remains largely unknown is the secret deal done by current Israeli President Shimon Peres and the leftist peacenik, Maretz party member Yossi Beilin, known widely as “Peres’s poodle.”
Six months after the signing of the bilateral agreement between Israel and the Vatican, on June 15, 1994, the Israeli government inked a further agreement with the Vatican endorsing the Roman Catholic Church’s participation in negotiations to determine the future of Jerusalem. This was followed in February 1996 by Secretary General of the Vatican Serge Sebastian announcing that Rome recognizes Palestinian sovereignty over East Jerusalem. The Vatican had thus revealed its hand. From here Rome was to go on to actively work through its proxies in the “peace process” to exploit Palestinian claims as a means of splitting the city of Jerusalem asunder, seizing the Old City and possessing East Jerusalem. This involved the management of Palestinian aggression as part of the process, regardless of the suffering and loss of life that this would inevitably incur. This would in fact be a vital part of the initiative to take East Jerusalem by force in the event of the failure of diplomatic means. The same tactic had been instigated by Germany and Rome in the Balkan Peninsula to achieve a desired result with implicit UN agreement, with the Serbs becoming the pariah in the world’s view. This time, it’s the Jews who are being pilloried, in particular since the Gaza incursion, in the lead-up to a similar result as in Kosovo—the seizure of iconic territory to be placed under the influence of Berlin and Rome with the willing acquiescence of the United Nations.
Well-known commentator on Israeli affairs journalist Joel Bainerman claims, “The end goal of the Vatican is to seize control of the Old City of Jerusalem out of the clutches of the State of Israel. To that end they have a secret agreement with Israel which obliges Israel to respect the ‘extraterritorial’ claim to their physical presence in the city. In short, we have accepted the Vatican’s rights to have little Vatican sovereign embassies throughout our eternal capital of Jerusalem. That same Vatican has committed itself, in public and in a written agreement, to ensure that the Palestinians have sovereignty in the Old City of Jerusalem.”
Some years ago I interviewed Barry Chamish, Jewish author and general antagonist to the papal connections in Israel. Chamish remains a thorn in the side of the Israeli establishment, in particular Shimon Peres and Yossi Beilin. His well-researched publications on the Vatican plan to take over Jerusalem agree completely with those of Joel Bainerman. Yet, beyond the proof of the hidden agenda of the Vatican exposed by such commentators, there is the “more sure word of prophecy,” which we have well documented in our publications, that forecasts the coming of an individual who will be the spiritual head of a great religio/political institution centered in Europe, spreading its tentacles “toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land” (Daniel 8:9).
Believe it or not, your Bible prophesies the hidden agenda of the Vatican! The press and media remain fixated on what they believe are the faltering mistakes of a pope out of touch with reality—witness the imbroglio over Benedict’s Regensburg speech and the latest kerfuffle regarding the lifting of the excommunication of the four Lefebvrist bishops, including the Holocaust-minimizing Bishop Richard Williamson. Such diversions are but a smokescreen for those whom Lenin famously called “useful idiots” to keep them diverted from following the scent on the track to the ultimate Vatican story, the coming takeover of Jerusalem by Rome!

My name is Jim Neugent. I wrote to ABC (on-line) concerning a program called 'THE PRACTICE.' In last night's episode, one of the lawyer's mothers decided she is gay and wanted her son to go to court and help her get a marriage license so she could marr y her ' partner. ' I sent the following letter to ABC yesterday and really did not expect a reply, but I did get one.
My original message was:
ABC is obsessed with the subject of homosexuality. I will no longer watch any of your attempts to convince the world that homosexuality is OK. ' THE PRACTICE ' can be a fairly good show , but last night's program was so typical of your agenda. You picked the 'dufus' of the office to be the one who w as against the idea of his mother being gay, and made him look like a whiner because he had convictions. This type of mentality calls people like me a 'gay basher.'
Read the first chapter of Romans (that's in the Bible) and see what the apostle Paul had to say about it.... He, God and Jesus were all ' gay bashers ' . What if she'd fallen in love with her cocker spaniel? Is that an alternative life style? (By the way, the Bible speaks against that, too.)
