Twenty-five Egyptians and one Palestinian suspects detained in Egypt have confessed to planning attacks on Suez Canal shipping and oil pipelines on behalf of al Qaeda. Tuesday, July 7, DEBKAfile's counter-terror sources disclosed that a large group of 15-20 al Qaeda terrorists, trained in Pakistan and Algeria to hijack and blow up airliners, deployed secretly in Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey and Egypt for multiple attacks in the week of the G8 summit in l'Aqila or thereabouts.

Our military sources report that this week an Israeli nuclear-capable Dolphin submarine escorted by a missile vessel transited the Suez Canal on the way back to its Mediterranean base from a Red Sea drill that took place off Eilat last month. Marine transport insurance sources remarked that if al Qaeda terrorists had succeeded in its purpose of sinking ships and blocking the canal, through which one-tenth of global seaborne traffic passes, oil prices, insurance fees and cargo rates would have hit the roof.
The leader of the al Qaeda cell was an Egyptian, Mohammed Fahim Hussein. The Egyptian interior ministry reported Friday, July 10, that the equipment seized in their homes showed they were able to make their own remote-controlled bombs.

California attorney Orly Taitz, who has pursued multiple legal challenges to Barack Obama's eligibility to be the president, is attracting some high-level attention, with the Justice Department trying to add itself onto one of her cases and the legal counsel for the Joint Chiefs of Staff being assigned to review another issue.
Taitz has filed multiple legal actions around the country alleging Obama does not meet the constitutional requirements to occupy the Oval Office. One of her cases, filed against Obama as an individual for actions before he took office, is scheduled for a hearing in a California court on Monday.
Taitz has told WND if her motion is granted she will immediately request access to Obama's birth records and other documentation that could determine his eligibility to occupy the Oval Office.
Taitz has been trying multiple additional notification procedures since U.S. District Judge David O. Carter ruled: "Before the court is a motion by plaintiffs for reconsideration of order to show cause or in the alternative to certify question for appeal. Court sets this matter for hearing on July 13, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. in Courtroom 9D. Plaintiffs are directed to make every effort possible to ensure that all remaining defendants are aware of the hearing and provide documentation that the individual receiving service is authorized to accept on defendants' behalf."

Hawaiian Supremes asked to take 'action' on WND report

A Chicago activist who has asked the courts in Hawaii to unseal Barack Obama's birth certificate now is urging the state's Supreme Court to take action following a WND report documenting conflicting reports on the president's birth location.
"This court should take decisive action before the court itself becomes a part of a questionable pattern of behavior concerning a document that is obviously relevant to American history," said a pleading posted on Andy Martin's website for submission to the state Supreme Court.
Martin previously asked the Intermediate Court of Appeals in Hawaii to order the release of the president's original birth certificate, explaining that state officials waived their ability to claim privacy or secrecy by previously commenting on the document.
His request came in a lawsuit against Gov. Linda Lingle and others that seeks an order making the document available to the public. Martin, who writes on the ContrarianCommentary.blogpost.com page, filed his lawsuit Oct. 17, 2008, seeking a declaratory judgment to obtain access to the 1961 birth certificate of Barack Obama, who then was a candidate for president.

In the ongoing quest to determine the exact birthplace of Barack Obama, the president's alleged personal effort to put the matter to rest is raising some interesting new questions.
The latest concerns focus on a letter purportedly sent by Obama to Honolulu's Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children in which the commander in chief outright declares his birth at the facility.
(Within an hour of the posting of this story, Kapi'olani removed the image of the letter from its website.)

Leaders of the industrialized nations failed to agree on tough measures, including sanctions, against Iran's drive for nuclear weapons in the first day of their three-day deliberations at the Italian town of l'Aquila, Wednesday, July 8. Russian opposition to condemning Iran left only an endorsement of the diplomatic track, which may have been directed more against an Israeli military option than Iran. government-backed violence in the aftermath of Iran's dispute election last month was "deplored."
In any case, the next day, Tehran topped up its refusal to discuss its nuclear program with a sharp response to the mild G8 statement: "We shall not halt our nuclear program or retreat by a single step."
The Iranian nuclear issue did not even rate a statement separate from the other security issues.
Nevertheless, US undersecretary of state William Burns, playing the setback down, praised the statement as a victory for unity, representing "a real sense of urgency."
French president Nicolas Sarkozy said that fellow G8 members had agreed to give Iran a chance for negotiations until September, when the next G8 conference in Pittsburg would take stock of progress towards freezing its nuclear activities and "make decisions." He did not explain how they proposed to bring an unwilling Iran to the negotiating table or persuade Russia and China to endorse the new sanctions he hinted at.
On other issues, consensus on real steps was just as elusive. The G8 leaders agreed to "try to limit global warming to just 2C (3.6F) above pre-industrial levels by 2050, after lowering their target of halving greenhouse gas emissions by the target year.
It was decided to invite 14 developing countries to take part in the next G8 summit so ending the group's standing as a club for rich nations.

NAACP to governor: Declare martial law

An NAACP official has demanded the governor of Pennsylvania call out the National Guard, suspend civil liberties and impose martial law to deal with a recent wave of shootings.
Stanley Lawson, president of the Harrisburg Chapter of the NAACP, urged Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell deploy the National Guard for at least one month and enforce a curfew after more than a dozen shootings rocked the city, according to the Patriot News.
Many of the shots were fired during daylight hours, and one man was killed at a busy intersection in the middle of the afternoon June 24.
"The Guard is for floods and natural disasters. I don't know any more of a natural disaster than of our young people being killed," he said at a meeting at Capitol Presbyterian Church.
"It's time for some real action," he said. "Right now the important thing is to stop this madness."
"We're beyond what the Harrisburg police department can do. We need help," Lawson said.
According to the report, Lawson referenced the 1968 race riots following the assassination of Rev. Martin Luther King in Memphis, Tenn. And the subsequent deployment of National Guard troops.
Rather than drugs, robberies and gang activity, Lawson said the shootings were most likely due to fear.
"The young men, it's fear, it's just fear," he said. "They think: 'I'm going to get them before they get me.'"
But Gov. Rendell's office told WND calling out the National Guard and imposing martial law – a system where military rule overrides civil law in times of war or emergency – is not an option.
"That action is not currently on the table," said spokesman Chuck Ardo. "The governor has ordered the state police to increase patrols in the City of Harrisburg and to work with the city police in whatever way they deem necessary."

If you happened to read online news sites such as United Press International or the popular hoax-busting Snopes.com anytime up until Tuesday night, you would have seen definitive statements that President Obama was born at the Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.
But checking back now, both sites are suddenly providing an entirely different location, the Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children, also in the capital of the Aloha State.
Within hours of a WND report revealing Obama's birth being reported at two different Hawaiian hospitals, both sites changed their information to suddenly fall in line with the president's claim that he was born at Kapi'olani.
Here is the screen shot from Snopes on July 7, before WND's report was posted:
