I want to talk with you about having a gun in your pocket that you can be sure it will work if the need arises. I know so many of you are hung up about having a semi auto mouse type pistol in your pocket I just must try and clear your head for once and for all. These small semi auto's can be intoxicating unless you use good judgement. My criteria for any handgun that I use or carry is summed up in one word "RELIABILITY"...
You should not have to be told that you must fire so many thousands of rounds in your pocket pistol to get reliability. That is pure BS, now there are people that will believe this crap no matter what I say. Most of the tiny semi autos are not super reliable for one reason or another. We can discuss why they are not dependable but if you are already brainwashed I will never be able to make you understand what I am going to explain. When they tell you the length of the barrel of a semi auto pistol, that measurement includes the chamber, you should always keep that in mind.
I have owned a great many tiny semi autos and the only one I could admire was the baby Browning, the down side was who wants to use a 25 acp cartridge in defense of your life, certainly not me. You are carrying a false sense of security that will get you killed. If you carry a small pocket gun like I do it should be used for the intent purpose as a second or third back up piece. If you try and rely on and think that a small caliber will keep you from sporting a brand new toe tag you are sadly mistaken. Most of these little centerfire calibers are not even as effective as a good 22 magnum rimfire cartridge.
The semi autos that have a short barrel and no ejector are very difficult to make 100% reliable because of varying factors, but even if they do work they should never be relied on as a primary weapon. I do not expect to change the minds of die hard believers that think their 25 acp or their 32 acp is the cats meow. Now - if you tell me you use a Glock 26, 27 or a 33 mini gun I can tell you that is pure fire power, but its entirely to thick and heavy for a pocket gun.
I have carried the very same NAA mini revolver in my pocket for at least 12 years. I only test fired it once to see how it worked and I have complete faith in it as a second and realistically a "THIRD" gun. I use good ammunition and its not important that it be accurate and its not important that I have special sights or anything. Every couple of years I may rotate the 5 cartridges it holds in its cylinder. I am not interested in cosmetics or a special finish or any goodies that are out there, this mini revolver that has a 1 5/8 inch barrel will work if and when I ever need it. My intent is to use it at a very close range of 2 or 3 feet, if I ever needed it.
My pocket gun has a non fluted cylinder that was installed for me by an expert at the factory, his name is Mr. Martin and he did a flawless job. I never lie to myself as it just makes no sense at all. I just read in American Handgunner an article that some foolish gun writer wrote about what is the fuss about the lock on the new S&W revolvers, WELL MR. WRITER ------- I SPOKE WITH SOME ONE THE OTHER DAY ABOUT AN INCIDENT WHERE A PERSON DROPPED HIS KEYED NEW TYPE S&W REVOLVER AND THE LOCK ENGAGED. I have a picture of this mickey mouse lock on my other blogger that shows the link below. Its not a good idea to try and remove it but it can be disabled. I would not do it because of legal liability.
FOR THOSE THAT WANT S&W's TOLL FREE NUMBER IT IS 800 331 0852
If this was a Police Officer or a social encounter this locking of the revolver by dropping it accidentally could have bought the man a toe tag and a free pass thru the pearly gates. So do not believe the BS that todays guns are better than ever, its all BS. As I explained in my previous commentary all people selling products seem to be consumed by human greed and their false G-D named BENJAMIN FRANKLIN.
The older S&W revolvers are heads and shoulders above anything that S&W makes today. I have my own theories about current production guns made today as being outsourced everywhere. I look at todays handguns and ask myself now where is this frame made and then I ask myself where are these MIM internals made and I can not even answer my own questions with a positive degree of certainty. It just seems to get worse and worse for me, as all I have is more questions and I do not believe the customer service reps at the factories because they are working for BENJAMIN FRANKLIN.
If you are looking for a pocket gun, I think an older S&W "J" frame would be a place to start, after all a 38 special with the right cartridge and the bullet placed in a vital area will save the day and let you go home to your family for another day. My old S&W model 60 was purchased new in the 60's. I do not mind carrying a 22 magnum revolver, of course this caliber in a rifle is very lethal but in a short barrel will still be be better than a 25 acp. If you are going to carry one gun for defense of life and property the smallest caliber should be a 380 acp.
I am not talking about using hardball or full metal jacketed ammo as I am not a signer of the Gineva convention. When I used to reload 380 acp in my younger days I could achieve 1100 feet per second using a Speer 88 grain bullet and Alcan 120 powder. Most of you will not recognize that powder but it was ideal for a 380 acp. Carrying a light weight Colt Mustang with that particular load would be a very good choice. IT IS STILL BULLET PLACEMENT...
I would like to see Ruger make a lightweight SP101 for people that need to carry a potent package every where. I have no idea why they have not done this all these years. I am sure that many people have already made this request. I have no idea why RUGER has not already done this, as it would be a big seller.
As for what is available today your options are limited to either some of the older guns or current production weapons that are not very impressive. go to www.truthaboutparts.blogspot.com

I am now continuing this blogger for those that want to read the rest.
There are definite shortages of supplies at all the major wholesalers. My daily routine is to log on to my accounts and do a daily search of supplies that I am curious about, so I will give you the short version as follows.
Everyday I check the status of COLD STEEL KNIVES and the premium high dollar knives are still not in stock.
I checked for NAA Guardian pistols regularly and there are none to be found in certain calibers. NAA and KAHR are no longer a joint venture.
I checked for price and availability for KEL-TEC pocket pistols with major wholesalers and they are out of stock or it says allocated.
I check for Beretta Handguns and supplies are limited to certain models.
I check for other brand handguns and supplies are limited.
I check for Wolff 7.62 x 39 ammunition and they are out of stock.
The good thing I can report that one of my favorite handguns is Glock and there are plenty available at the wholesalers.
I remember that Surfire flashlights are no longer sold through wholesalers. This same situation applies to Sig Arms and they only sell to stocking retail dealers as they cut out the wholesalers.
Walmart no longer is selling firearms, and I have no idea if K-Mart is still in business.
To sum it up you see where I am going with all this, because you may want a specific item does not mean you can find it. slowly but surely all avenues to purchase weapons is being diminished.
My suggestion would be to start looking for what you want now, I do not know if you can find it but what ever you do I suggest you do not buy a gun sight unseen off the internet, I have seen so many butchered handguns that were sold as "NEW" or "MINT" by liars.
People ask me all the time what year S&W revolver they should look for, well I can not easily answer that because S&W were owned by so many companies and when you are dealing with older guns you do not know what was done to the action.
What many people do is look for a widow whose husband has just died and been left with a large collection of older guns. These dealers will give the widow pennies for what the collection is worth and the poor woman has no clue she is being ripped off, and thats how you are finding older ESTATE PURCHASED GUNS. I could never live with myself to take advantage of a widow for the sake of getting more BENJAMIN FRANKLINS. BUYER BEWARE...
If you can find a reasonably good "J" frame that was made in the late 60's you can always fine tune it to perfection. I am in constant touch with my friend MARC at ISMI gunsprings 800 773 1940 as he is working on hammer and trigger return springs for the "J" frame that will be made out of Chrome Silicon wire. I am pressing MARC to also make all the springs for a NAA GUARDIAN pistol that will improve its performance. Another project of Marcs is to make a striker spring for an HK P7 M8 or M13.
I understand not all of these are for pocket guns but in closing I want you to give serious thought in the purchasing of a NAA mini revolver that is chambered for the 22 magnum. They make a few different models all of which are first class, I suggest buying one with the longest barrel that you feel comfortable with. I would feel lost without my mini revolver in my pocket, and you can even purchase a neck holster sold by PALE HORSE HOLSTERS that are made by RON GRAHAM, they are excellent.
I have given you solid honest advice and I hope you will take me serious as your very life depends on it.
ON ANOTHER NOTE, SOON MR. CAMP AND I WILL BE STARTING ANOTHER STREET GUN PROJECT BASED ON THE SA MIL-SPEC 1911 PISTOL ONLY.
